The Main Farmers Market will run the full season in
2008, every Saturday from May 17 to September 27, from 9 am to 2 pm on the
grounds of Saint Paul University.
SLOE ran the
farmers’ market in August 2007 as a
pilot project. As with the community garden, Saint Paul University
generously allowed use of their grounds for the market. Given the
environmental, social and economic benefits that come along with buying food
locally, only producers within a 100 mile radius were invited to
participate. There were 17 participating vendors <for a list of the 2007 vendors, click here>
and over 1500 people attended each of the three market
days.
Given the enormous success of the first "test" season, we will be running the
market for the full growing season in 2008, with an expanded number of
vendors. If you are a vendor interested in a
booth at the market, please read the invitation letter and complete and return
the application form. Applications for
booths at the market will be processed in the order in which they are
received.
We are in the process of
hiring a market coordinator for the
season, but there is still a lot of volunteer effort required in the
preparation and running of the market. If you would like to help, please send us an email.
